- 3 pounds medium apples
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- Peel, core, and slice apples in fourths. Put them in the slow cooker with the vanilla and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Stir every few hours. Once apples are tender, mash and stir in sugar and spices. (After mashing I put the apples in my Vitamix to blend to a smooth consistency.) Cook on low for another 5-6 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Cool, pour into jars, refrigerate. Apple Butter will last in the refrigerator for 2-3 months. To store apple butter for a longer period of time seal jars by canning them.
TIP: Pour this recipe into jars to make great gifts this holiday season. Make sure to use these labels from MoneySavingMom®.com.
